 Aspen Calkins, D.O.

Dr. Calkins is from Grants Pass Oregon. She grew up on a remote farm in the southern Oregon wilderness. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School; then attended Santa Clara University to receive her bachelor’s degree in Biology. During her time at Santa Clara, she was a volunteer EMT and worked as a river guide on the Deschutes River in Oregon before medical school. She graduated from Midwestern University Medical School with honors in 2012 as part of the Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Society. Dr. Calkins entered an Internal Medicine/Pediatrics dual residency at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center then transferred to what is now Banner University Medical Center Family Medicine in 2014 and graduated from this program in 2016. She is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine as well as at Midwestern University School of Medicine. Dr. Calkins has valued high academic achievement throughout her career. 

In 2013 she married the love of her life, Dr. Scott Marquard, whom she met at Santa Clara University. Dr. Calkins has been in private practice since 2016 at Thunderbird Family Medicine. Dr. Calkins is a caring, sensible physician who practices evidence-based medicine and strives to give the highest level of care.

She enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her and Dr. Marquard’s 3 German Shepard mixes, Roman, Zara, and Fauci, and 2 cats David and Alexis.
